This year’s Fall Spiritual Life Retreat is about growing closer to Christ and one another. It will be an intimate group of just 20 people from our church and the speakers. The lodging place is perfect for small church retreats. There are a number of walking trails and places to enjoy God’s creation. We will rest, feast on God’s Word, and worship together. Jesus said, “Come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” Come rest in Christ with us October 26-27. We hope to offer a a similar retreat in the Spring for those unable to attend this Fall. More info here: https://cornerstone-marion.org/2012/09/06/spiritual-life-retreat-october-26-27/
Next Sunday September 23, McCornerstone: After church next Sunday, we encourage each individual and family to bring your own picnic or fast food lunch and fellowship at the home of Garry and Jacalyn Schultz. Bring you own chair as well. Their address is 4751 Chestnut Trail, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52411.
Friday Night Bonfire, October 12: Please join us for a potluck and bonfire at the Schultz’s home on Friday, October 12th, 5:00-??. The Schultz’s will provide paper/plastic wear, water, pulled pork and stuff for S’Mores. Add to that as you feel led. Come fellowship with us either way! Bonfire, Capture The Flag, Volleyball, Trampoline, playhouse for the little ones, indoor play area as well. If you want to bring along a guitar and lead some praise songs around the fire, great! We’re starting early, but please drop in when you can! Contact Garry or Jacalyn for questions.
Personal Assessment: We are asking every member and regular attender of Cornerstone Church to fill out a 2 page sheet that assesses each person’s experience of unity and community at Cornerstone Church. Please return these to Pastor Matt by September 16. We hope the information gathered helps the leaders of this church make wise decisions in the coming year to prayerfully see spiritual growth in our church family.
