The Pastor Post is a bi-monthly update from Pastor Matt with a brief meditation as well as information on upcoming events in the life of Cornerstone Church.

Dear Church Family,

Our goal this year is to reflect Beautiful Unity through Christ-Centered Community.  I’m encouraged by our journey together thus far in Fall 2012.

For starters, we are seeing many of you plugged into a small group. That is exciting. Some of our groups are so big that we might have the joy of multiplying our groups this Spring (glory to God)! This is the kind of multiplication we desire to see so that one day we will be able to send out a church plant.

I’ve also heard a number of you are making individual steps to be a more life-giving friend in God’s family. I’ve heard that people plan to invite others over to their home for meals. I’ve heard of people writing notes on birthdays and other occasions. I celebrate the unity and love we’ve expressed in saying good-bye to different individuals in our church for various reasons. I think God has been pleased with our healthy good-byes and warm well-wishes. Satan might try to bring disunity, but Christ sets his favor and blessing on brothers and sisters when they dwell together in harmony (Ps. 133:1, 3).

In other news…

CHURCH RETREAT, October 26-27: We still have plenty of spots for the Fall Spiritual Life Retreat. My hope is to have 20 registered people and we still have about a dozen spots left. Never underestimate the power of time away with the LORD and His people. Some of you are tired. Some of you are spiritually hungry. Please make Oct. 26-27 a priority. Maybe you need to allow your spouse to get away by offering to watch the kids. Maybe a couple needs to commit to go together in order to be spiritually refreshed. Please sign up by Sunday September 30. If you have any questions, call Pastor Matt today or check out this link: https://cornerstone-marion.org/wordpress/2012/09/06/spiritual-life-retreat-october-26-27/.

Friday Night Bonfire, October 12: Please join us for a potluck and bonfire at the Schultz’s home on Friday, October 12th, 5:00-??. The Schultz’s will provide paper/plastic wear, water, pulled pork and stuff for S’Mores. Add to that as you feel led. Come fellowship with us either way! Bonfire, Capture The Flag, Volleyball, Trampoline, playhouse for the little ones, indoor play area as well. If you want to bring along a guitar and lead some praise songs around the fire, great! We’re starting early, but please drop in when you can! Contact Garry or Jacalyn for questions.

Baby Shower, Tuesday October 23: Ladies, you are invited to attend a baby shower to bless the McCreary’s.  The shower will be held at Lesia Stuelke’s home in Center Point at 7:00 p.m. Details will follow.

Communion Sunday and McCornerstone: For many years we have gone out each Sunday at a local restaurant or park as a church family. We plan to continue this in 2012-2013, but starting in October we are changing what we do for McCornerstone on Communion Sundays (usually the 3rd Sunday of the month). On the 3rd Sunday of the month, no restaurant location will be listed for McCornerstone. Instead, we would like individual friends and families to choose to fellowship in smaller groups in individual homes, local restaurants, etc. Quality friends take quality time and we want to give you an opportunity to take the fellowship into your living room or individual pizza booth. We’ll remind you of this in future weeks. But keep in mind October 21 will be the first Sunday to invite others out to a more intimate meal together.

I love serving this church. I have the best job on earth.

Love you,

Pastor Matt
