The Pastor Post is a bi-monthly update from Pastor Matt with a brief meditation as well as information on upcoming events in the life of Cornerstone Church.

April 19, 2013

My friends,

Since we talked this past Sunday on Church Planting, I wanted to encourage you to be in prayer for 2 new church plants that are just getting started in the Cedar Rapids area. The first is called Regeneration Church and is being started out of New Life Community Church in Marion (http://www.regencr.com/). The other is called Veritas and is being planted by a thriving ministry down in Iowa City (http://veritascommunity.org/).

Pray for these 2 churches. And if the LORD leads you, feel free to go and join in these new works of God. Lord willing, God will grant us the privilege of planting a church in the years to come. But it’s always good to pause and celebrate what God is already doing in our city and to be in prayer for fellow brothers and sisters serving in the Kingdom.

Important Announcements:

National Day Of Prayer, May 2 in Greene Square Park (11:30-1PM): The theme for 2013 is Pray for America, emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to place their faith in the unfailing character of their Creator, who is sovereign over all governments, authorities, and men. For more information at www.servethecity.org or http://nationaldayofprayer.org

Faith Day at the Kernel’s, Sunday, May 19th – Faith Day to Feed the Hungry –Bring canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned chicken or tuna and 100% juice to stock our local food pantries. The band Airwaves is playing prior to the game and the band Mike’s Chair is providing a concert right after the game. More information at www.servethecity.org

And now finally, please prepare your heart for this Sunday’s worship and celebration of the Lord’s Supper. So too, since it is communion Sunday, rather than going out to one restaurant as a church family after our service, we are encouraging you to meet in smaller settings either in homes or different restaurants. We’ll continue this pattern until it is warm enough to have our weekly picnics in the park.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Matt
