Church-Family-NewsFirst, MY mistake. I incorrectly thought this coming Sunday (8/9) was going to be my sermon on “Hope for Human Sexuality.” It’s not. That sermon will be on August 23. On August 23, we’ll also have Children’s Church through age 10 so that parents who’d prefer to keep their kids out of a serious sermon on sexuality will have have that option.

Here are the sermons coming up in August:

August 9: Making Sense of Heaven and Hell
August 16: Making Disciples, Guest Preacher Larry Austin from the EFCA Central District Office
August 23: Hope for Human Sexuality (Children’s Church through age 10)
   August 30: Homecoming: Jesus’ Return

Eat with the Elders, this Sunday: After the worship service on August 9, all new attendees and guests are encouraged to stick around for an 11AM gathering to meet church leaders, talk about the ministries, mission and values of Cornerstone, and take in a meal together.

11AM Sunday School in August:

     August 9: No Sunday School
     August 16: No Sunday School
August 23: Sunday School training for all teachers, assistants, and volunteers.
August 30: ALL Church/All Ages Sunday School kickoff and vision meetings. (please plan to attend)

Small Groups Launch the week following Labor Day (Sept. 6-12): As in past years, most of our small groups will be on Tuesday and Wednesdays each week. Keep on the lookout for groups and times. These are sermon-based Bible studies, designed to help people grow in community and faithfulness to Jesus Christ at home, work, among our neighbors, and out to the nations. These groups will meet weekly through November, take a little break in December and meet regularly January through May. Mark your calendars today. More details in the next few weeks.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Rom 15:13 NIV)

In Christ,

Pastor Matt
