thDear Church Family,

I want to reiterate a few things from Sunday’s congregational meeting. First, thank you for being a generous church. Last year, we finished in the black by nearly $20,000 and put some money toward future ministry in other categories. Second, with these resources, we will need to be praying and planning on how to be responsible. Who knows what the future holds for 2016 and 2017…more staff? church planting? missions work? We need discernment to walk in step with the Spirit. Be on the lookout for prayer gatherings and “town hall” meetings to seek God’s face for His direction.

Great video: In light of the lessons we’ve been having in The Gospel Project Sunday School lessons, I highly encourage you to go to this link and watch this 4 minute video on the nature of the Passover by one of the professors who serves our seminary, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School: http://blogs.thegospelcoalition.org/justintaylor/2016/01/30/picture-two-jews-the-day-before-the-first-passover/

Upcoming events:

February Newcomer Class: if you know of anyone who has been visiting Cornerstone Church the past few months or weeks, please invite them to attend our Newcomer Class at 11AM this Sunday.

B.L.E.S.S. Learning Community: MaryLou Erlacher is officially our coordinator of Faith and Work. One of her major projects in 2016 is the hosting of a very important leadership development course called BLESS. This course will give its participants a framework for honoring Christ in all of life. This course will give opportunities for people to learn how to thoughtfully engage their various callings (at home and work) with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This course will meet once a month on Sunday evenings beginning in March. There will be learning cohorts formed so that group members can grow as faithful disciples together outside of the monthly large group gatherings. More details to come, but please begin praying about joining this course. If you are you single, make this a priority. If you are married and kids are gone, this would be a great course for you. If you are married with kids still around, consider sending your spouse through the course. We’re not sure if we’ll be able to host this in future years, so please let MaryLou know if you are interested – marylouerlacher@gmail.com

Thank you for your many labors of love.
Under His Blood,
Pastor Matt
