eldercommunication_webbanner-11Greetings Cornerstone Friends:

As many of you know, on October 24 our leaders had a meeting with Gary Shaw, a Central District Representative, who has experience in helping churches make building decisions.  Gary gave us helpful guidance.

First, he asked us some key questions about Cornerstone.  The questions were so good that we went to each small group meeting and asked them the same questions. Second, he helped us to understand how our building plans have to dovetail with out ministry plans.  It’s important to have an idea who we want to be in ten years so we can figure out what we need from the building in five years or even in six months.

We talked with each small group about their vision for our building and found we had a lot of ideas in common (the need for classrooms, ceilings, some improved aesthetics inside and out, etc.).  That was encouraging.

Now, it’s important that we tie any future building and finance decisions to our hope of growing into a Mature Church over the next 5 years (#adulting). The four key areas they are focusing on are evangelism, discipleship, leadership development, and church planting.

We plan to have a meeting of the congregation in January to continue this discussion.  We hope to hear the following:

  1. How we’re making steps and plans for each of the four key areas.
  2. A summary of what the small groups thought about our building needs.
  3. A discussion on the resources needed for our building and future ministries and how to best fund it.
  4. A discussion of our upcoming ByLaws change proposal.

Please try to keep Monday night January 23 at 7PM open and join us.

Please be in prayer for our church, and specifically about how the LORD would lead you to invest in our vision with your time, talent, and treasure.

Sincerely,

The Elders at Cornerstone Church
