We’ve finally arrived in the New Testament in Sunday school. One astute student asked me at the end of our large group session yesterday if we were going to take a break from Sunday school until December since Malachi is the last Old Testament book and he knew the New Testament started with the Christmas story. I told him we were going to have Christmas in October.
I’m not suggesting you do the WHOLE Christmas experience for the next several weeks, but perhaps as you’re discussing the stories over the coming weeks, you can throw in a few of your Christmas traditions for fun. Drink some hot cocoa, sing Christmas carols, etc.
Unlike the Old Testament study, the next several weeks will be going through the 4 gospels together, to piece together the life of Christ from these 4 primary sources. This week:
Bible Passage: Matthew 1:1-17
Main Point: Jesus’ earthly family included Abraham, David and others.
Key Passage: 1 Timothy 1:15
Big Picture Question: What makes Jesus different? Jesus is fully God and fully man.
Have a great week!
