I wanted to share a few prayer items that relate to an Evangelical Free Church Plant we support:
Harvest City Church in Iowa City has their first public worship service this Sunday. They have gathered as a church for a few weeks, but this is the big Sunday to invite friends, neighbors, and coworkers. Pray for them. Pray also for the volunteers we’re sending down to support this big day. We got an email from their Pastor Scott Gaskill with a word of thanks: I want you to know how INCREDIBLE what you are doing is. We are EXTREMELY thankful for the work you have done to gather volunteers to serve this weekend. We are stoked to celebrate what God is doing in our church and your efforts will make it possible for 6-8 more of our people to share in the amazing time of celebration! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Pray God uses this church to reach many for Jesus Christ. Pray God gets much glory through their labors of love.
Pray also for our church as we walk through the season of Lent. In the season of Lent, Christians normally ponder more on death, sin, guilt, and judgment. We miss the marvel of Jesus’ death and resurrection when we forget where we’d be apart from His saving grace. Using the Psalms of Lament can help us pray accordingly…so too can books like Job, Lamentations, and reading the portions in the Gospel that recount Jesus’ final days. I pray the LORD works in your heart as you contemplate all that He has done for us.
