Hello Church Family,
Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He walks with us into 2022; His Word never fails. Some of us carry griefs into 2022; I pray you sense God’s compassion and mercy. Some begin with enthusiasm and hope; I pray God puts strength into your steps. Regardless, know that Christ promised to be with His Church until the very end of the age. He carries us to fulfill His mission of making disciples.
With that, I want to give Five Quick Announcements:
#1: First, I want to start by expressing a big THANK YOU to all who served our body in 2021. We have such dear saints and faithful servants. Thank you for holding the infants, preparing the lessons, and ministering to one another. Thanks for navigating covid (and our various decisions and convictions) with humility and grace.
#2: Second, I’m very excited about the new 11AM Sunday School classes launching this Sunday, January 9th. For our adults there’s a deep dive into the Book fo Ephesians, a class discussing a timely book called Crazy Busy, and some helpful discipleship training with Pastor Gary. Check out the Sunday School list at the bottom of this update; we have quality classes and quality teachers. I hope you pick one.
#3: We have 5 mid-week small groups that meet Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, and two women’s Bible studies held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Each of these groups dig into God’s Word, pray for one another, and a fair share of the groups find a way to eat together regularly. There’s also a few men’s groups and women’s groups that meet at different times during the week. If you’re not in a group, contact me (Pastor Matt, 447.1688) and I’ll try to find the right fit for you.
#4: Please consider signing up for the AbideCR conference here in Cedar Rapids this February 11-12th. Here’s the description: “Imagine a weekend at a slower pace with nothing to distract you from enjoying God’s loving presence. Unhurried worship. Encouragement from God’s word. Fellowship with the family of God. Rest with Jesus.” Read more and sign up @ http://abidecr.com/
#5: Cornerstone still has its sights on seeing a new church start in Anamosa. Please be in prayer. Over the past few months, a few possible church planters have been contacted. We’re praying and waiting on the LORD, but it seems like we’re closer now than we’ve ever been.
God’s kindness leads us to repentance (Rom. 2:4). The glorious Christ dying for His people invites us home. Marvel at the kindness of God, repent afresh before Him as you start 2022.
Your fellow pilgrim,
Pastor Matt
