Who's Your One (9/30/2024)
Church family,
This past Sunday we focused on “Beginning with Prayer” as the first and foremost activity a church and individual take to be a blessing. A.J. Gordon’s wisdom provides solid guidance for us as we take our next step to serve those around us: “You can do more after you have prayed, but you cannot do more until you have prayed.”
So, let us pray. Pray for “Your One” daily for the next 30 days. I’m attaching a PDF of the Bookmarks we passed out (we have more at church if you missed). Put the name(s) of people you want to see believe in Jesus on the bookmark. Answer the question, “Who’s Your One?” Each day, read the single Bible verse on the bookmark. Then, pray that the spiritual reality in the verse would become a spiritual reality in the person for whom you pray. You can also use this online tool (https://www.bible.com/ reading-plans/14514-whos-your- one-30-day-reading-and-prayer- guide) or the same tool in TheBibleApp on your phone.
Last night before bed, my entire family read the first verse and then we each took 5-15 seconds to pray for our one. It was powerful and beautiful. We hope to press on and keep this practice up for the next 30 days. Would you join me personally, as a couple, or as a family? Let’s dedicate October to praying for our one daily.
A few other church events around the corner:
Church Prayer and Soup Supper (Oct 9): Join the saints for a soup supper on Wednesday Oct. 9 @6PM and stick around for corporate worship and prayer @7PM. (We encourage all evening small groups to break on these prayer weeks and to gather with the larger body for prayer.)
Next Steps Class this Sunday (Oct 6): If you’re newer to Cornerstone or have been bringing a friend, please choose to stay for the 11AM class in Room 102 after church this Sunday. Let our admin Meegan know if you’re coming: office@cornerstone-marion.org
Membership Class on October 13 (12:15PM-3:45, lunch provided): Pray for this next membership class and please consider joining the class to learn more and join up. A member of a church chooses to be mutually submitted to a local church family and its leaders. A member prays, gives, serves, and casts votes on important church business. A member wants to be held accountable to the beliefs and behaviors of the New Testament and commits to hold others to the same Biblical standards. Let our admin Meegan know if you’re coming: office@cornerstone-marion.org
I loved the murmur of prayers that went up this past Sunday during our service among the seats. It was sweet music to a pastor’s ears.
I’m honored to walk with this church family. You bless me!
Love to you in Christ,
Pastor Matt
