Dear Church Family,

The Bible commends us to honor faithful workers, and so I felt compelled to write about my appreciation for Pastor John MacArthur who met his maker yesterday. (Click this link – “In Memory of JMac”)

If you don’t know Pastor John well, you might appreciate the eulogy given by Southern Baptist Seminary President Al Mohler (A Lion of the Pulpit, Now in Christ’s Presence” WORLD“).

My own growth as a Christian and pastor has been greatly served by contemporaries like Pastor John MacArthur and former heroes like Charles Simeon, Martin Lloyd-Jones, Charles Spurgeon, and Augustine of Hippo.

I’m thankful that God raises up teachers and preachers for the building up of Christ’s Church.

We’d all do well to be humble learners of pastor-teachers who have held fast to God’s Word.

To God be the glory,
Pastor Matt

P.S. Two years ago, I sent out a similar tribute on the passing of Pastor Timothy Keller: https://cornerstone-marion.org/2023/05/23/remembering-rev-tim-keller/
