Dear church family,
Remember today that the heavenly Father loves you. As Pastor Keith Knight reminded us this past Sunday, God has lifted us up through His Son. We’ve been brought to God through Jesus’ blood. Jesus is our wisdom, righteousness, holiness, and redemption. Yes, we’re weak in the flesh, but in Christ, we have heavenly strength. Like Paul we can work hard and accomplish much, and in the same way affirm, “but not I, but the grace of God working in me.” So press on; it’s all worth it. You’re not alone, never forsaken, and forever loved with an everlasting love.
Looking ahead the next month, I see great opportunities. First, we have opportunities to seek God’s face together, to receive God’s presence, Spirit, and grace. So too, we have opportunities to seek God’s will together, to listen to one another, and discern God’s direction. We also have opportunities to reach out to neighbors, to introduce our church and Christ to a needy world.
So as the Lord allows, please join us in these activities in the coming weeks…
1) We have a family meal and prayer night this coming Wednesday October 7. Meal at 6, with singing worship and prayer to follow at 7. The main theme of this prayer meeting is to champion disciple-making and church planting, as well as seek God’s will to made a clear decision on buying the adjacent property. We desire pray-led clarity on building expansion as we press on in faithful disciple-making and church planting.
2) Then, the following Monday night I invite every member to join the leaders at the Leadership Summit. We’ll move from praying for discernment on the building acquisition to important conversations on if, when, how, etc. The Leadership Summit is Monday October 12 from 7-8:30PM. Here are some of the questions we want to get feedback on: What advantages do you see with procuring the adjacent facility? What disadvantages do you foresee? What ways can we navigate numerical growth in our existing facility before we have the space and money to expand? How do we keep church planting and our own growth duel priorities and passions? How do we champion generosity without creating giving fatigue?
3) Finally, would you help with the Fall Harvest Festival on Friday evening October 23, 4:30-6:30PM. There are lots of open spots for volunteering. Please check out how to serve at this registrations page: https://cornerstone- marion.churchcenter.com/ registrations/events/3921050
Thank you for your many labors of love.
Under grace,
Pastor Matt
