Associate Pastor

"This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength,"...

Hi, I'm Gary

I’m the Associate Pastor at Cornerstone Church and love disciple-making and leadership development.

Originally from Illinois, I made my way to the Marion/Cedar Rapids area in January of 1998. My wife, Patsy, and I were married in 1985 after meeting at the college we attended, Huntington College in Indiana. She was a soprano in the college choir, and I was a tenor. We have three grown sons, a daughter still at home, and three grandkids we love to spend time with whenever we can.

For over 30 years, I have served local churches in worship ministry.

In addition to serving as the Associate Pastor of Discipleship, I oversee the Worship Ministry and the Missions Committee.

Three things you may not know about me are:

  1. My father and Patsy’s father were roommates at a Billy Graham Conference in 1969. They had no idea of what was coming.
  2. I played competitive tennis through High School and College. I’m way out of shape now.
  3. I was on a team of college students in 1979 that set and held for six months a new Guiness World Record for marathon volleyball. It was quite a weekend, sixty + hours of volleyball.

My favorite part of my job is meeting with people to take steps of faith together and making music in community that glorifies God.
