Hi, I'm Matt
I’m the senior pastor at Cornerstone Church and I love being part of Eastern Iowa!
Originally from Indianola, IA, I made my way to the Marion/Cedar Rapids area in June of 2010. My wife, Carrie, and I were married in 2003 after meeting at Iowa State University. Eventually, I went on to be ordained in the Evangelical Free Church of America and took a master’s degree at Denver Seminary. We have 4 delightful children – three sons and a daughter. From time to time, God places bonus foster kids in our home.
My favorite part of my job is knowing my people pray for me.
Three things you may not know about me are:
- My family cheers on the Iowa State Cyclones (especially in basketball).
- I love sports of all kinds: basketball, pickle ball, running, football, etc.
- I enjoy fantasy and science-fiction novels, as well as, reading church history. Well, really books of all kinds (click here for my recommended reading list).
