We wanted to share with you an initial small batch of handmade authentic Turkish rugs that we have up for sale currently. These rugs can be located on our website https://threadlinestrade.com/sale. Over the past year, we have developed relationships with several handmade rug dealers in the country. These rugs are sourced through those relationships. Sadly, often when tourists come to Turkey, they are duped into buying rugs that either are not handmade or not genuinely older, quality pieces. These "salesmen" will deliberately make these rugs look older in order to entice buyers into purchasing an "antique rug." The good news is that we have developed a broad enough expertise to avoid these situations and bring customers quality hand knotted rugs at very fair price points. Everything you see in our inventory is hand knotted by women who would have woven them on a loom. They are also typically at least 30-40 years old and most have scarcely been used. Many of these rugs often were part of a woman's dowry and sat unused in a chest for decades before being acquired by our partners. Seeking Connections to People Who Could Help Us
Beyond looking to test out this initial batch and offering procurement services for larger orders, we are also looking to establish some connections with various retail or wholesale establishments in the States where these rugs can be sold. We have a cold call strategy in place, but obviously, this work is a lot easier if someone is able to make an introduction for us. People often ask how they can come serve us or could they do an M trip to our country. Since we live in a relatively closed country, unfortunately we rarely have a practical way for people to carry this out. It always leaves us scratching our heads about how to provide those opportunities.
