Church family,
Please take a moment this Sunday to love on Pastor Gary and Patsy before they step away for 5 weeks. Thank him for his many investments in our church body. He leads our worship ministry with grace. He supports our small groups and the mission teams with love. He shepherds his small group and discipling-relationships with care. He’s a great team player in the office and brings loads of wisdom to key elder discussions. Bless him this Sunday, and then pray for him until he returns. Pray his 40th anniversary get-away with family is a deep joy. Pray his sabbatical gives renewal of soul and a clear call for re-engagement at his return.
Key events in the life of Cornerstone:
#1: We encourage all members and regular attenders to come to the Congregational Meeting this Monday night (6/16) @6:30PM. The main agenda is simple. We will vote on whether we move forward to address the maintenance and update of the front part of our building (drainage, falling brick, replace 50+ year old siding, new windows, door, etc.). To prepare for that meeting and vote, please attend one of the two remaining informational meetings this Sunday at 8:30AM or 11AM in Room 101. If you haven’t seen the motion and rationale, you can find information here: https://cornerstone-marion.org/2025/06/12/6-16-630pm-congregational-meeting-information/
#2: Please pray for our youth ministry and their partnership with Youth for Christ this summer. Every Wednesday night from 7-8:30p we have teaching, games, and worship music for all kids entering 6th grade through senior high. (Invite friends, family, and neighbors.) In addition, we co-hosti with YFC park days at Hanna Park (9-11 AM June 18, July 2&16, August 6), and (3) Thursday night gatherings from 6-8PM July 10, 31, and August 14th at Cornerstone Church in Marion. Pray for our pastoral assistant Matthew Smith and his fabulous team of volunteers.
As always, I covet your prayers for my own Sunday morning preparation and delivery, for all who serve on Sunday morning, and for the active work of the Holy Spirit when we gather and scatter for the name and fame of Jesus Christ.
Under grace,
Pastor Matt
